What stays on your PC

Your profiles, binds and macro settings are saved on your PC and stay there.

Activation

You activate North by pasting your purchase token. The app checks the token online each time it starts and from time to time while it's open, which is why it needs an internet connection.

Each check sends three things to the licensing service over HTTPS: your purchase token, a device ID, and a random one-time code. The device ID is a one-way scrambled (hashed) value made from your Windows installation's ID. It isn't your name, your hardware serials or anything readable. The app keeps your token in memory while it runs and doesn't save it to disk.

Each token is linked to the first Windows PC it's activated on. If you reinstall Windows, ask in the Discord for a device reset.

Checkout

Checkout runs on Payhip, and payments go through PayPal (which also takes cards). This site never sees your payment details. Payhip and PayPal process your payment and your email address, and their privacy policies apply to what you give them. Payhip shows your download and purchase token right after checkout and emails you a link to them.

Discord

Support, updates and device resets happen in the Discord. If you join, Discord's privacy policy applies, and whatever you post in a ticket can be seen by the people handling it.
